  • From 7-10PM on November 11, the Maryland Youth Cricket Association will hold its first-ever annual awards banquet at the Sheraton College Park North on Powder Mill Rd. In Beltsville. Awards will be presented to players and coaches for league achievements, as well as team achievements.

    The featured speaker will be H.E. Ambassador Hamdullah Mohib, Afghanistan's ambassador to the United States. He will speak about what cricket has come to mean to the people of Afghanistan, how it can be used to improve understanding between nations, and how sport can be a lifeline, even in the most hopeless of situations.

    Other state VIPs will be in attendance, such as Terry Hasseltine, Executive Director of Maryland Sports. Maryland Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford has also been invited, but his office has not yet confirmed.
